Nuts & Bolts – Composition Before & After

Like an outfit and accessories, fashion advice per Coco Chanel is to add accessories at will and then before leaving the house, remove one piece so as to not overdo it.  We’ve heard it before, less is more. The same can be said for a composition of many elements and details in a design.

See this wonderful example by GCU artist Michelle Lanoue:

Note from reviewer:
The ornaments appear to be floating and not attached to the tree branches.  The design on the bow is busy and it would be more appealing if this were a solid color.

After:

Great job, Michelle on letting this handsome cardinal be the center of attention and allowing the ornaments to not compete with the bow.

See here for the Submission Guideline: Composition Balance of Elements.

The difference is made in the details!
