Nuts & Bolts – Design Challenge – Before & After
One of the newer features of GCU’s monthly Design Challenge is Judges’ Notes on all submissions. The notes can range from composition, font style, inside verse suggestions and more. As the cards have already been approved and have met the Submission Guidelines, these notes are simply suggestions and judges’ observations not required changes. See this wonderful example by GCU artist Ramelle Richardson on her most recent entry, PID#1937490.
Judges’ Notes:
Thank you for entering the July Design Challenge. The judges would like to share their feedback. Overall the judges thought it was a nice choice of colors with visual appeal. Some felt it a little busy, suggesting perhaps removing the carrot bunch at the deer’s feet and the shooting star which would allow the Season’s Greetings text more room to enlarge and move up a bit. Also mentioned was a possible kerning issue with the apostrophe in Seasons.

Ramelle’s response:
Thank you for sharing the judges’ suggestions. I made the revisions, though I did not entirely remove the shooting star but made it smaller to accommodate the larger, higher text. Hope that improves the design.Wonderful work by Ramelle resulting in a more polished and balanced design!
The difference is made in the details!
