Nuts & Bolts – Spelling Variations
GCU shoppers span the globe! In addition to different languages, also comes different spelling variations. Particularly between American English and British English.
For example:
Happy Birthday to Our Neighbor
Happy Birthday to Our Neighbour
To my Favorite Teacher
To my Favourite Teacher
Or consider a completely different word meaning the same thing:
Sweater
Jumper
Vacation
Holiday
When you create cards with COVER text like the above examples, please consider creating a variation for both of the spellings. This is permitted as a differentiating word variation of a like image design (as long as the variation is on the cover)
Here are some example by GCU artist Doug Hill of Laughing Hippo Designs:

As well as GCU artist Kate Taylor:

See this Nuts & Bolts – Leveraging Designs as well as Mine and Our Variations.
TIPS:
– be sure to include the specific term in your metadata (card title, keywords, artist’s notes) to help searching shoppers find the perfect card
– add a note to the review team in the Notes to Reviews calling attention to the variation like “this design based on pid#xxxxxx with a spelling variation”
The difference is made in the details!
