Nuts and Bolts: Color Variation Considerations.

August 30, 2019

Nuts & Bolts – Color Variation Considerations

So many color options!  Sometimes it is hard to choose which color combination to use in a card design. Shoppers feel the same way when shopping for a card and it’s nice to give them choices. This is why GCU allows (and encourages) artists the luxury to offer a card in up to three different colors. This is especially true for holiday photo cards, graduation, and wedding oriented cards where colors may be key to the occasion/event.

Here is an example of a Christmas card design by GCU artist Ness Nordberg of The XMAS Store:

Additional color combinations that you feel are important to offer beyond the permitted three can be submitted to your Private Gallery.

NOTE: consider adding in your product description (Artist’s Notes) something like this “this design is also offered in red/green pid#XXXXX, black/gold pid#XXXXX combinations in my store. You can also find additional color combinations in my Private Gallery.”

Keep an eye on GCU’s Rainbow Connection features each week for inspiration.

Nuts and Bolts: Update Winter Holiday YEAR specific cards.

August 23, 2019

Nuts & Bolts – Update Winter Holiday YEAR specific cards

Believe it or not, Winter holiday card sales have already begun.  Do you offer Year Specific designs?  Be sure not to miss out on sales or worse, have your card taken offline because you’ve neglected to update it for the new year.
Not only should images be updated but also card titles, keywords and artist notes.  This even applies to custom front designs to make them more marketable and avoid shopper errors.

Please take the time now to update your designs before 9/23.  After 9/23/19, GCU will take any outdated cards offline.

Christmas cards should reflect the current year (2019) and New Year cards should reflect the coming or new year (2020).

TIP: A quick way to pinpoint the bulk of your related cards is to search your storefront entering in the search box “<holiday name year>” ie: “christmas 2018”, “new year 2019”.
